Sustainability Initiatives
Questions?
JRoss strives to be part of the solution in todays’ green world. We have respect for the environment and aim to raise the bar with high standards in sustainability and longevity. Less waste, smarter systems, contemporary eco-friendly landscape construction, and as always, a beautifully finished product.
CARBON FOOTPRINT
To reduce our landscape construction carbon footprint we:
- Give preference to materials that are locally-sourced
- Encourage planting native trees and plants (our current favourite is tall prairie grass)
- Use smart irrigation systems, such as drip irrigation
- Recycle tree and plant debris whenever possible
- Limit material waste on our construction sites
- Seek out jobs that aim to plan for more green space and re-create native habitats
- Use GPS technology to ensure the most efficient routes for our entire fleet of vehicles
- Continually are upgrading our fleet which means our newer vehicles use systems such as stop/start and auto idle/auto shut-down
CONSTRUCTION DIGITIZATION
We use paperless solutions for our entire day-to-day operations:
- Cloud based content management and file sharing
- COR Safety Program and all safety forms are paperless
- Each foreman equipped with laptop on-site
- Recent addition of PROCORE construction project management software
HOME BASE
JRoss Headquarters was built in 2017 using professional energy modelling with MB Hydro PowerSmart, exceeding the Manitoba Energy Code for Buildings (MECB)
- We have no single-use kitchen items
- We use eco-friendly products when possible
- All metals created by our construction process are recycled through a metals bin in our yard
- We keep reserves of parts and supplies in our yard to avoid lost energy in transportation
